Composting

Home composting is a great way of saving money and an environmentally-friendly way of reducing your waste

Items suitable for home composting: 

 

  • Fruit and Veg peelings

  • Tea leaves

  • Coffee grounds

  • Egg shells

  • Plants, leaves, flowers and twigs

  • Vacuum dust

  • Cardboard egg boxes (torn)


 

Once everything breaks down, you will have free compost to use in the garden or pots

BBC Gardeners World provides a great introduction to home composting in their beginner’s guide. Including a step-by-step guide accompanied by a video demonstration.
