Quickstart Scheme 

The initiative will provide paid job placements for 18-24 year olds based in the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The aim is to provide young people with essential employment skills to enhance their future employment prospects.

Quickstart is funded by the Vale of Glamorgan's CELT+ project and supported by Communities for Work Plus. It has been desgined to provide a six months paid placement for individals aged 18-24, living in the Vale of Glamorgan and currently not in education, employment or training. 

The scheme funding will cover 100% of the national living wage for 25 hours a week, along with national insurance contributions and automatic enrolment contributions.  The scheme isn’t an apprenticeship; however, people can move into an apprenticeship at any time during or after their placement with you.

The job must be new, cannot be used to fill a redundant post, nor can it cause existing employees to lose their job.

CELT+ will also help support some set up costs for either equipment, training or to develop employability skills for the young person recruited.

All Vale of Glamorgan departments are eligible to express an interest. The 2023 scheme will run as follows:

• Vacancies advertised from Monday 21st of August 

• Interested candidates to submit their interest for vacncy consideration to the Quickstart Coordinator (in the first instance) by no later than Friday 8th of September

• Pre-employment workshops (CV/Interview Skills) to be offered to potential candidates week commencing Monday 18th of September 

• CV's to be sent to Vale departmental managers by Monday 2nd of October 

• Interviews to be set by individual departments upon receipt of CVs

• Placement start date from Monday 16th of October
