Residents who sign up before 10 March will be able to subscribe to an early-bird offer starting from £36 per year, the same price as in 2024.

There are two subscription options for the service – £36 for up to eight bags of garden waste per fortnight and £54 for more than eight bags per fortnight.

The Council is currently reviewing all its charges for 2025/26 and prices for garden waste subscriptions may increase after 10 March 2025.

Those who choose not to subscribe to the service can still take their garden waste to a Household Waste Recycling Centre for free or compost it at home.

Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services and Transport, said: “The Council’s Garden Waste Subscription Service returns again for 2025/26, following a successful first full year in operation.

“The service has gone from strength to strength since the initial launch of a paid-for garden waste subscription model in July 2023.

“Money generated from this scheme will help the Council generate much-needed income as we look to overcome a significant budget shortfall.

“I’m pleased to see the service continue to develop since its inception and I am grateful for the cooperation and support from residents.

“I urge residents to buy now at these early bird prices, which matches last year’s offer.”

Service users will need to put waste bags at the edge of their properties by 7am on the scheduled collection day.

Items that are collected as part of the service include grass, most leaves, plants and flowers, as well as shrub cuttings, hedge trimmings and pet bedding by non-meat-eating animals such as hay, straw and wood shavings.

Residents are advised not to include soil, logs, stones, invasive weeds such as Japanese knotweed and animal or human faeces.

If residents are already subscribed to the service, their subscriptions will not renew automatically for the 2025/26 period and will need to subscribe via their existing accounts to continue with garden waste collections.

Residents can either subscribe via the Council’s website or call 01446 729566.
