Sculpture Cymru’s ‘Meeting of Minds’ Exhibition opens at Art Central Gallery
Cllr Rhiannon Birch recently opened a new exhibition by Welsh sculptors at the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Art Central Gallery.
The exhibition was officially opened on Saturday, November 02 by Cllr Rhiannon Birch, who welcomed artists and guests to the space on Kings Square in Barry.
Sculpture Cymru, a collective of sculptors living and working in Wales, was formed in 2000 to provide opportunities for collaboration, exhibitions, and the promotion of contemporary sculpture.
This exhibition marks a significant milestone for the group, featuring 100 works by 28 leading artists from across Wales, including Dilys Jackson, Valerie Coffin Price, Nick Lloyd, Su Roberts, and Sebastien Boyesen.
The exhibition also features contributions from a significant number of Vale of Glamorgan-based artists, highlighting local talent on a national stage.
The works on display reflect a wide variety of materials, techniques, and artistic visions, offering visitors a unique insight into the contemporary sculpture scene in Wales.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language, said: “We are delighted to host Sculpture Cymru’s Meeting of Minds Exhibition at Art Central Gallery.
“The exhibition offers visitors a rare opportunity to see sculpture in its many forms and to see the work of artists who have established themselves nationally and internationally.
“I would like to extend a big thank you to all the members of Sculpture Cymru and their guests, for sharing their work with us.”
Sculpture Cymru has previously exhibited at prestigious venues across the UK, including Margam Park, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, and Kidwelly Castle. This latest exhibition at Art Central Gallery reaffirms their commitment to promoting sculpture and engaging new audiences.
The exhibition is open weekly from Monday to Saturday until Saturday January 11.
