Cwrt Y Vil Opening Ceremony Huge Success
The Vale of Glamorgan Council are pleased to announce the Cwrt-Y-Vil Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) officially open following a successful launch party on Wednesday 4th October.
Members of the local community, the leader of the council, Lis Burnett, cabinet members and Penarth’s Youth Action group were all present to celebrate the redevelopment.
PYA provided football and basketball taster sessions and shared hot chocolate and marshmallow smores with members of the public.
Leader of the council, Lis Burnett said: “This is a wonderful celebration that has brought together the local community to enjoy and engage with the new facility.
“The new MUGA is situated in a busy residential area and will benefit lots of people.
“We hope this facility will encourage more young people to participate in activities. Sport, and providing children with the opportunity to play, has apositive impact on health, education, community cohesion and safety.
“We have made huge improvements to sports infrastructure across the Vale, and we hope these facilities will benefit everyone.”
The site was identified by Penarth Youth Action Group as one they would like to see enhanced following a consultation the group undertook and provided to the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Tionna Ross, Penarth Youth Action member said: “We would like to thank you everyone coming to the event.
“We really appreciated the support of PYA to start this MUGA project and the support of others to help get it done.
“We are really please this is finally open so the community can come together and enjoy spending time over sports.”
The value of the redevelopment project cost an estimated £100,000.00. These are capitol funds which include technical fees and is part of a widespread programme to upgrade play facilities across the Vale where funding allows.
This follows similar recent work at St David’s Play Area, Penarth, Windmill Lane in Llantwit Major, Belle Vue Play Area, Penarth, Clos Peiriant, Barry and Central Park Play Area also in Barry.
