Vale Launches Two Communities Grant Funds
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is launching two grant funds that help to support the Council’s vision of “Strong Communities with a bright future”.
The first is the Strong Communities Grant Fund, offering grants to community groups, voluntary organisations and Town and Community Councils towards the cost of initiatives within the Vale of Glamorgan. The Fund aims to improve the resilience of organisations/groups or their activities by funding projects that add value to their current work, can demonstrate longer term sustainability and reduce reliance on grant funding in the future. Projects can be up to £25,000.
For projects that exceed £25,000 a second grant can now be accessed. The Shared Prosperity Grant can support communities to improve their places and access to travel, support local cultural and heritage projects as well as the development of volunteering and social action projects whilst tackling cost of living challenges. Projects that support people to develop skills to access employment are also welcomed.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Lis Burnett said “We are proud of the Strong Communities Grant Fund and the lifeline it offers our voluntary organisations, we hope to build on that success through The Shared Prosperity Fund which is a welcome investment in the Vale, particularly at this challenging time.”
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion (across the UK) of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
Further details on how the Shared Prosperity Fund can support local businesses will be available soon.
Applications for both community funds are now open. For further information about the funds and to download the guidance notes please visit: Strong Communities Grant and/or Shared Prosperity Fund.
