Vale of Glamorgan
After consulting with residents, plans for the new and improved play area were finalised and contractors began working on the site on Monday 23 January.
The investment aims to transform the run-down play area into a fun, modern space, designed for children aged up to 12 years old.
With a theme of woodland, nature and sea, the new site will boast a range of new apparatus, including swings, a wheelchair-friendly roundabout, a pyramid climber and sensory equipment.
Taking on board comments from the public consultation, the plans also aim to improve access to the site.
Councillor Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and Building Services, said: “It is great to see the renovation works at Porthkerry play area underway. “The upgrade is part of a wider scheme to regenerate play areas across the Vale. “Being a popular site within the community, I’m sure the new facility will be well-received and enjoyed by many. “The impressive plans will transform the site into a fun and interactive recreational space and I look forward to seeing the finished result."
