“During the last week, we have witnessed distressing scenes emerging from Turkey and Syria in the media,” she said. “Now, a week on, the devastating scenes continue as the earthquake has left millions of people in urgent need of shelter, food and medical aid. “The Vale of Glamorgan is home to many Turkish and Syrian residents who will also be feeling immense anxiety and pain as they watch the aftermath of the earthquake from afar. “Our thoughts are with all of those affected. “Many Vale residents have been asking how they can help. “The most effective way for individuals to support the international aid effort is by donating to the organisations that are delivering frontline relief and rescue operations. “The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), MSF UK, Oxfam, The White Helmets, International Rescue Committee are all welcoming donations and perhaps the easiest way is via the Disasters Emergency Committee an alliance of 15 charities.
