Vale of Glamorgan
Local Authority staff and members of the public also assembled outside the Civic Offices on Holton Road in Barry to note the anniversary with a one-minute silence at 11am on Friday (February 24).
That was part of a national event, organised by the UK Government.
It offered the chance to reflect on the lives that have been lost during the conflict, pay tribute to the Ukrainian people and demonstrate support for their cause.
Cllr Burnett said:
“The war in Ukraine has shocked the world as we watch on in horror at the unjust and needless conflict that continues to rage. “Here in the Vale, we pride ourselves on values such as tolerance, acceptance and compassion and our thoughts remain firmly with the Ukrainian people. “To demonstrate that solidarity, we took a minute of quiet contemplation to consider the impact of the war, the damage it has done and reaffirm our absolute opposition to it.”
