Vale Of Glamorgan Council asks for views on Annual Delivery Plan

The Annual Delivery Plan (ADP) details the work that will be undertaken over the next year to deliver on the Council’s four key objectives.

  • Tuesday, 05 December 2023

    Vale of Glamorgan

They are:

  • To work with and for our communities
  • To support learning, employment and sustainable economic growth
  • To support people at home and in their community
  • To respect, enhance and enjoy our environment

The Council is seeking feedback from residents, it’s partners and the third sector on whether the actions that will be the focus of the Council’s work in 2024-25  are the right ones to meet these objectives.

Like much of the public sector, the Council is facing significant financial pressures but this plan demonstrates a commitment to partnership working, to working with local communities, to protecting our most vulnerable residents and recognises our responsibilities with regards to climate change and nature.

As well as the four key objectives this year's plan details three critical challenges which the Council feels are a priority for the next 12 months. They are:

  • Organisational Resilience (our finances, people and assets) – ensuring that we can continue to adapt and provide our services despite the financial pressures and workforce challenges that we and many of our partner organisations face.
  • Cost of Living Crisis – supporting our residents, local organisations and business in the face of rising costs in particular around energy, food and housing.
  • Climate and Nature Emergencies – responding to the climate and nature emergencies and delivering the commitments in our Climate Challenge Plan.

The actions listed in the plan will contribute to meeting these critical challenges in addition to contributing to the overall objectives.

Actions across all four Well-being Objectives will contribute to meeting these critical challenges, demonstrating the integrated way in which the Council works and the multi-faceted nature of its activities.

Cllr Lis Burnett, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “We know the next year will be challenging for us all, as we continue to confront the effects of the cost of living crisis, the significant pressures on many of our services and remain focused on protecting our most vulnerable residents and responding to the climate and nature emergencies. These tasks are difficult to balance, but all of them are vitally important if we are to continue to meet the needs of current and future generations.”
