The Vale of Glamorgan Council is encouraging residents to attend the Vale 50+ Strategy Forum ‘Have Your Say’ event.

The 50+ Strategy Forum is an active group of people working within the community to support and champion the needs of those aged 50+.

The aim is to ensure that older people in the Vale of Glamorgan have a voice in developing services and strategies.

This year, the Forum is hosting three ‘Have Your Say’ events which are open to the general public, providing a great opportunity for members to come together and learn about specific challenges and topic areas whilst engaging with the wider community.

The events are very social and free refreshments are provided if you just wanted to come along for a cup of tea and a chat.

The next event will be held at Lower Penarth Community Centre, Brockhill Way on Thursday 18th May from 2-4pm.

Followed by their third event of the year atCF61, Station Road, Llantwit Major, CF61 1ST on Thursday 13th July from 2-4pm.

The 50+ Strategy Forum has been in existence for 20 years, has over 280 members, and regularly discusses important matters such as health, housing, transport, leisure, and more.

Benefits of joining the Forum include ensuring that your voice is heard and having a say on issues that affect you as well as being informed about relevant local issues and joining a community of like-minded people.

Chair of the Executive Group, Anne-Marie Little said: “The Forum gives a powerful voice to the needs of older people in shaping their communities for the benefit of all citizens locally and nationally.

"Everyone is welcome to attend our ‘Have Your Say’ events and we are always on the lookout for more members.”
