The ISA is a process for considering and communicating the likely significant economic, social, environmental, and cultural effects of the plan. By law, the RDLP must be subject to Sustainability Appraisal to ensure that it is underpinned by sustainable development. The appraisal aims to mitigate the negative impacts and maximise the positive impacts of the plan-making process. This is the first of five key stages in the ISA process. The Council has prepared a Draft Scoping Report which outlines the issues and objectives against which the sustainability of the RLDP will be assessed. This is largely an evidence gathering stage and sets out the current economic, social, environmental and cultural well-being context and identifies sustainability issues which are relevant to the local area. The Draft ISA Report can be found on the Council’s website, as well as a non-technical summary. Comments can be submitted via the online consultation portal or by downloading and printing paper copies.
