Vale of Glamorgan
A new team has been established by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to assist communities with projects and accessing funding.
The Community Development team will help local communities identify their priorities, create action plans, source funding and assist with consultations.
The aim of the new team is to build on the excellent work carried out as part of the Vale’s Creative Rural Communities programme, which has recently ended after 18 years.
The team will have the same commitment to putting people and places first with an emphasis of facilitation, co-production, collaboration and innovation.
The announcement of the new team was made at an event at Hensol Castle on Tuesday 27 September, as Council officials were joined by community representatives from across the Vale to celebrate the dedication, ambition and hard work of the Vale’s communities.
Cllr Bronwen Brooks, Deputy Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Places said: “We have seen some fantastic examples today of how our rural communities have worked together with the council to achieve great things. “Much of this work has gone onto influence the way we work in the council and to help shape our priorities which is why one of our main objectives is to ‘work with and for our communities’. We are delighted that the new team will now be able to support our Urban and most vulnerable communities as well as those still in need in the rural areas.”
