The Council-owned Kymin building is currently undergoing required general maintenance works.

Following a high-level review of the condition of the building, it was identified that certain key works were necessary to the fabric of the building in order to preserve its long-term integrity.

These works will ensure that the building is safe and watertight and include general stonemasonry and structural repairs.

In addition to this, carpentry repairs will also be carried out, including fascia and soffit boards, new rainwater goods, repairs to sash windows, and repairs and redecoration of rendered areas.

It is expected that works will be completed by the end of November.

Cllr Bronwen Brooks, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Places

said: “The Kymin is an iconic local building for Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan.

“These works are required following a standard review of the building and demonstrate our commitment to keeping it in good condition so that it can remain a community asset into the future.”

The Kymin regularly plays host to a range of outdoor events. Details of any upcoming events at the Kymin and Penarth Pier Pavilion can be found on their Events webpage.
