Council housing development ready for tenants
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has completed work on a project to create 23 new council homes at Hayes Road in Barry.
Known as Lon y Felin Wynt, the development consists of 19 two-bedroom and four three-bedroom properties, which will soon welcome new tenants.
Ahead of their arrival, Council Leader Lis Burnett and Cabinet Member for Public Sector Housing and Tenant Engagement, Margaret Wilkinson took a tour of the site.
The properties have been constructed by Pegasus Developments Ltd on a brownfield site near the Atlantic Trading Estate.
They will boost the Council’s housing stock and help meet considerable demand for accommodation of this type.
This comes after the Council delivered a similar development of 28 new purpose-built homes at Llys Llechwedd Jenner in Barry.
A scheme to construct 11 new homes at Holm View in Barry, four of which are adapted bungalows specially designed to meet the needs of a disabled family member, has also been completed.
Cllr Margaret Wilkinson, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Public Sector Housing and Tenant Engagement, said: “The need for Council housing is increasing so it’s vital we provide for that by delivering top quality properties.
“These homes and being constructed to the highest specification and will provide comfortable modern places for families to live.
“This is the latest in a series of developments designed to boost our Council housing stock and cater for the needs of our residents.”
