Kymin Gardens Celebrates Peter Pan Success
The Kymin recently played host to a successful outdoor theatre production of Peter Pan.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council-managed venue saw punters cheer on a packed-out theatre production, performed by Illyria.
Although Peter Pan has been performed by the group since 1997, this show was the first to feature real flying by the cast.
Following the success of this performance the Kymin will be hosting a number of further events this summer, starting with The Pirates of Penzance on August 25 and a Midsummer Night’s Dream on September 2.
In addition to upcoming events at the Kymin Gardens, the Penarth Pier Pavilion, also managed by the Council, also has a series of upcoming events, including Barb Jungr in concert on July 15, an art lecture on Henri Matisse on July 19 and Catrin Finch in concert on September 24.
It is hoped that the upcoming events at these venues will help to implement and strengthen both the Pier and the Garden’s role as assets to the community and demonstrate how the Council is continuously finding new and creative ways to use important community locations throughout the Vale.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language said: “It brings me great pleasure to see both Penarth Pier Pavilion and the Kymin Gardens hosting an array of events throughout these summer months.
“The success of the recent production of Peter Pan, performed by Illyria demonstrates the capability of these venues to host outstanding events.
“These spaces are important attractions and the Vale of Glamorgan Council welcomes the opportunity to help ensure they remain used by both the community and visitors alike.”
Tickets for all upcoming events at both venues can be purchased online via the Penarth Pier Pavilion Eventbrite page.
