Hundreds turn out for Penarth Pier Pavilion's Open Day

As part of a series of fun-filled festive events, the Vale of Glamorgan Council-operated Pier Pavilion hosted a free Open day on Saturday 10 December.

Carol singing at the PavilionSupported by the Council’s Big Fresh Team, who run the Pavilion café, the day provided an opportunity for the community to explore the iconic venue and find out about the exciting events planned for 2023.

 

A large crowd gathered at the Pier for carol singing, led by local baritone Richard Parry, with music performed by the Penarth Salvation Army Band, followed by complimentary hot drinks and mince pies inside the Pavilion.

 

The Big Fresh team also took the opportunity to present funds raised from their Big Fresh Spirit Event 2022 to Major Jo Walters from the Penarth Salvation Army.

 

Big Fresh Team with Major Jo Walters from the Penarth Salvation ArmyThanks to the generosity of its suppliers, ABM, Argies, Ask Frank, Castell Howell, Chapple & Jenkins, and Dairy link, who donated raffle prizes, Big Fresh staff and guests raised £450 at November’s event. The money will help to fund the Penarth Salvation Army’s work in supporting local vulnerable residents.

 

Councillor Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language, said: “I was thrilled to see so many residents and visitors enjoying the festivities at this years’ open day.


“A huge thank you goes to the Pavilion teams for coordinating the event!

 

“The day highlighted the integral role that the Penarth Pier Pavilion holds within the community, and it was wonderful to see the Big Fresh team play their part in supporting a great local cause.
