Vale of Glamorgan
The town celebrated the launch by donning fake moustaches and dressing up in historic costumes. Some dressed as Victorian ladies and gentlemen, whilst others played the role of shopkeepers and tradesmen.
Visitors to Holton Road and Thompson Street can scan unique QR codes in shop windows, benches and even taxis. The audio stories are based on real stories recounted and performed by Barry’s community, set in different decades from the 1890’s up to 2020.
They use the latest binaural technology and can be enjoyed in Welsh and English. The project will run for 6 months from April.
Twitchy Curtains has been funded through the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns initiative. Some of the research included in this project was undertaken as part of Barry Making Waves, which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund through the Great Place Scheme.
