Vale Childcare Offer application open from Friday 29 October
Working parents of children born between 01 September 2018 and 31 December 2018 are being invited to apply to the Welsh Government’s 30-hour childcare offer.
In the Vale of Glamorgan, the Childcare Offer can fund up to 17.5 hours per week of childcare during school term time. During school holidays, the provision is increased to up to 30 hours of funded childcare, allocated at three weeks per term.
Funding will start at the beginning of term in January 2022. It is available from the term after the child’s third birthday until the child starts full time school.
Parents can use the funding in any registered childcare setting who is signed up to the Childcare Offer. For example, in a day nursery, with a childminder or with a playgroup.
Parents must be employed or self-employed and living permanently in the Vale of Glamorgan. If this is in a two-parent family then both parents must be working, or the sole parent in a lone parent family. Parents must earn at least:
- £142.56 per week if you are 23 years old or older
- £133.76 per week if you are 21-22 years old
- £104.96 per week if you are 18-20 years old
All complete applications submitted with all correct evidence by 26 November 2021 will be responded to by 13 December 2021, with funding to start at the beginning of Spring Term.
Incomplete applications received between 29 October 2021 – 26 November 2021 will take longer to process. Working parents can still apply after 26 November 2021, but funding may not be guaranteed for the start of the Spring Term and cannot be backdated.
Full details on eligibility and earnings criteria are available on the Family Information Service website.
