This money will be spent on building a facility to accommodate three and four-years olds enrolled under the 30-hour Childcare Offer.

That scheme entitles eligible parents to 30 hours of combined education and childcare for up to 48 weeks of the year.

The building design was based on a template produced by developers ISG Construction in collaboration with Stride Treglown Architects.

Though it was still possible to refine this design, the use of a standardised model meant costs could be kept low and the end product will be delivered at real value for money.

“Pupils at Ysgol Dewi Sant already enjoy first class facilities following its recent construction as part of the Council’s 21st Century Schools Programme.

“This new investment will mean even more top-notch provision for the community in the form of purpose-built, permanent facilities for children enrolled under the 30-Hour Childcare Offer.

“It represents a further commitment to education in the Vale, with comprehensive upgrading work taking place right across the County.” - Cllr Lis Burnett, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration.
