Pendoylan Lane to close for 6 weeks to allow for road improvements
A six week closure of Pendoylan Lane is due to begin on 08 April 2019
The closure is being planned to allow Walters UK Ltd to be undertake road improvement works to the section of the road immediately to the north of the Sycamore Cross junction at Cottrell Green.
The improvements include the widening of the existing road and construction of a footpath into the new the residential development, along with all associated earthworks, drainage and road surfacing. The work is being undertaken on behalf of the Acorn Property Group.
These road improvements will help reduce congestion and the existing passing problems experienced by traffic along this narrow section of road.
Due to the narrow width of the existing road, a road closure is required to ensure the safety of both the public and those undertaking the work. Every effort will be made to keep the length of this closure to an absolute minimum to reduce inconvenience and disruption.
Following the road closure period, the construction works will continue with traffic management in place to maintain the existing single lane ‘give/take’ passing arrangements for a further 20 weeks.
The right hand turn lane from the westbound carriage way of the A48 at Sycamore Cross will also be temporarily affected.
Traffic diversions will be in place throughout.
The start date of the closure is being coordinated to begin only after the nearby the Five Mile Lane has reopened fully. This is currently expected to be early in April.
Walters UK Ltd. will be sending letters to all houses in the area this week to ensure all local residents are made aware of the closure.
