Vale of Glamorgan
A new 210 place school for St David’s CIW Primary School has been included as part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s 21st Century Schools programme.
It is proposed that the new school would be built on the existing site, with all staff and pupils transferring to the new building by September 2021.
The new school will require a £4.185million investment which will mostly be funded by the Welsh Government with additional funding coming from s106 contributions from nearby developments.
The 21st Century Schools programme is a long-term investment scheme supported by the Welsh Government with the aim of building modern learning environments that are fit for the 21st century.
Upon approving the expansion, Cllr Lis Burnett, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration said,
“It is vitally important that we invest in schools when funding opportunities are available. By expanding St David’s Church in Wales Primary school we are ensuring that the school is able to meet future demand and provide pupils with a modern and fit for purpose learning environment.”
