Council Tax Scam

Residents are being warned about scams offering a council tax refund in order to obtain payment details.

A number of residents have reported that they have been contacted by fraudsters, using gov.uk branding in text messages, messages read:

'Your recent Council Tax payment is over paid. Check the amount and claim refund now as the due date ends soon via https://govgroup.net thank you'

Residents are urged not to reply, click on any links or disclose bank account details or any other personal information if contacted by anyone offering such a service.

Anyone who is contacted by the above contact is asked to notify the Council either by calling 01446 709564 or by emailing CouncilTax@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
