Vale of Glamorgan
Barry
Based around a jungle theme, existing swings have been upgraded and new equipment for younger children installed, including a multi-unit disc spinner, Spring-mounted animals and games panels, while the area has also benefitted from resurfacing.
This is the latest in a long list of play areas that have undergone improvement works, with a number of sites across the Vale receiving the same treatment.
The total cost of the work was £49,000, with money coming from contributions secured by the Council as part of nearby developments.
Cllr Jonathan Bird, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet member for Regeneration and Planning, said: “Providing children with safe, modern and engaging environments in which to play is an important aim of this Council. “Play areas across the Vale have benefitted from this upgrading work. Batts Field is the latest of these, but it certainly won’t be the last. “I’d like to thank local Ward Members, Cllrs Bronwen Brooks and Sandra Perkes, for their efforts in helping to deliver this scheme, along with contractors Sutcliffe Play, who carried out the work. “I hope the local community enjoy their revamped play area and it helps to encourage the kind of active, healthy lifestyle we as a Council want to promote.”
