Proposed Highway Safety Improvements along Boverton Road

The stone retaining wall between Boverton Road and Voss Park is in a poor condition and for future public safety a scheme has been developed to remove the wall

Boverton Retaining Wall - Consultation Drawing-1

The planned work will include taking down the old wall and changing the land behind it to make the footpath wider and safer. A new embankment will also be built between Boverton Road and Voss Park.

There are about 20 mature trees (including Sycamore, Ash, and one Thorn), which are causing problems with the wall's stability and are showing signs of disease. Unfortunately, these trees will need to be removed for the safety improvements to take place.

To make up for each tree that will be removed, at least two new trees will be planted nearby in line with the council’s draft Tree Strategy 2024-2039.

The works are currently scheduled to begin early 2025, to avoid the bird nesting season.
