* The police have asked those who use the Colcot Sports Centre, particularly during match days, to show more consideration for local residents. Avoid blocking drives, take care when walking between other parked vehicles and take your litter home with you. These few simple steps will make the football experience much more pleasant, and will avoid you receiving a ticket.

Weather and Ground conditions

It is the Parks and Grounds Maintenance Division's objective to have as many football pitches available for use at any time during the football season. There are times when inclement weather and ground conditions make this impossible. If there is a potential difficulty with bad weather sites are inspected by Parks and Grounds Maintenance Division staff and decisions on the suitability for play are made using the following guidelines.

Jenner Park

At Jenner Park the decision is with the referee.

Leagues

The following leagues are allowed to assess the ground and make a referees decision.

The (McWhirter) Welsh Football League, South Wales Football Association (Thomas Carroll) Senior League, South Wales (Monnington Group) Amateur Football League and The South Wales FA Youth League.

Pitch inspections are undertaken on a Friday morning and discussion are held with officials of the Vale of Glamorgan Senior League officials about the use of pitches at the Buttrills Playing Field. Agreement is reached on which pitches are available and these are allocated on a priority basis by the Vale of Glamorgan Senior League officials.

If the conditions are unsuitable, mini and junior matches are cancelled.

Sites

Sites are inspected by Parks and Grounds Maintenance Division with the exception of the following:-

  • Celtic Way, Rhoose
  • Corntown Playing Fields
  • Murchfield
  • St. Athan Recreation Ground
  • St. Brides Recreation Ground
  • Severn Avenue, Playing Fields
  • Windmill Lane Playing Fields

At these sites the local club representatives assess ground conditions and suitability for play.
