Educational Tours

Our dedicated team of professional village guides have so much to tell their visitors as they educate and entertain them.

At Cosmeston Medieval Village we offer schools and groups the chance to step back in time to see what life really was like for the people, rich and poor, who lived around the manor of Cosmeston, near Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Your group can experience a variety of different attitudes and views based around the type of character represented by your costumed guide.

Walter the reeve in the doorway to his cottageWalter the Reeve (reite), Walter is the lords elected man running the village business on behalf of his lordship.  The Reeve is an important man with the benefits of being ‘free’ and able to command a fee for his work.

During a typical guided tour pupils/groups will be informed by their guide of what life really was like in the village in 1350 this may also include some information about weapons and armour, food, what gruesome punishments were in store for criminals and medieval medicine and cures.
