Allotments

Anyone who lives in the Vale may apply to rent a plot on any of our Council run allotment sites.

You can use the plot to grow vegetables or flowers and even to keep hens (but not cockerels) and other limited livestock. If you plan to keep livestock you must contact us to gain permission.

We carry out regular inspections of plots. If there is an ongoing problem with the maintenance of a plot there is an eviction process which can take up to three months.

Please note: There is a waiting list for allotments. Please contact us regarding a specific site and we should be able to give you an indication of the expected waiting time.

Allotment Plots

Most allotment plots cover 250 square yards. If such a large area seems rather daunting, you can request half a plot for you to share with someone else. (Halving the annual plot fee too)

  • Barry/Rhoose £12 (1 perch*)

  • Cowbridge £15 (1 perch*)

Allotments are offered on an as seen arrangement.

Please note: The Aberthin Road site in Cowbridge has a different rate for historical reasons.

* 1 Perch = 25.29m2
