Communities and Culture

Our values

At the Vale of Glamorgan Council, we embody these core values in everything we do:

  • Ambitious
We dream big and strive for excellence. Our ambition fuels innovation, growth, and positive change. We aim high, knowing that our collective efforts can transform lives.
  • Proud
We take pride in our work, our community, and our achievements. Whether it’s improving local services, supporting vulnerable individuals, or enhancing our environment, we do it with pride.
  • Together
Collaboration is our strength. We believe in working together—across departments, with residents, and alongside partners—to achieve common goals. Together, we create a stronger, more resilient community.
  • Open
Transparency and openness define our approach. We actively listen, communicate honestly, and embrace diverse perspectives. Our doors are open, and we value feedback from our colleagues and service users.

Culture Book

The Culture Book is a living testament to our organisational culture. The Culture Book encompasses and builds on our commitments to our people and highlights the diversity of our organisation, the exceptional work our staff do and showcases us delivering our Values in action.

Volunteer Policy

Our Volunteer Policy encourages staff to give back to the community one day a year. We partner with our internal teams and other local organisations to arrange large quarterly events that really make a difference in the Vale. Alternatively participate in any other Vale volunteering scheme to make a difference in some way.
