Join a dynamic cohort of doers from across the Cardiff Capital Region to learn, build and network for innovative future services

20 September, 2021

Infuse has been established to create innovative future services in the Cardiff Capital Region; whether that’s addressing how services are delivered to meet the changing needs of the region, or tackling the accelerating decarbonisation agenda to meet Wales’ commitment of a carbon neutral public sector by 2030.

What does the programme involve?

Over six months, officers will complete facilitated sessions from sector leaders at the forefront of our biggest challenges. Experts in their field will share examples of good practice from all over the globe and explore how we can adapt or adopt these ideas to meet our needs.

Alongside this, participants will be experimenting and testing ideas in their day jobs, the summer project, with help and support throughout.

At the end of the programme, you’ll join an exciting network of Infuse alumni who will be continuing to change how public services are delivered in our region.

What do participants have to say?

“The Infuse programme to date has been an intensive but enriching experience, we are now half way through the six month cohort. The programme has all been delivered online, but has been a varied mix of lectures, workshops, discussions, group work, and one-to-ones, and it has covered a vast range of topics and tools but all within the two topic themes of Communities and Decarbonisation, and all of which have direct links to everyone’s role within the Council, so it doesn’t matter if those themes don’t seem relevant at first. The facilitated sessions are relatively theoretical, but alongside this you choose a work based challenge to work on so it then becomes hugely relevant and helpful to your everyday work. Typically you will spend one day a week on learning, and one day a week on implementing in your day job.

"Personally I have taken great value from meeting and engaging with other officers from all the local authorities across the Cardiff Capital Region, there is a lot of opportunity to discuss real challenges that we each face, and discuss possible solutions based on people’s experiences and ideas. Additionally, the speakers and facilitators have vast experience to draw upon and as such I have been really interested to hear about other areas of the UK and beyond and how they tackle the challenges we also face in the Vale.

"Overall the programme has been intellectually challenging, professionally stimulating and personally rewarding. The time investment should not be underestimated, but I also consider time spent in the programme will be a good investment for me and the Council overall.” - Nicola Sumner-Smith
