Staff events and activities for Healthy Travel Wales Day 2021

We’ve made a commitment to supporting staff to choose healthier and more sustainable forms of transport. To mark Healthy Travel Wales Day, we’ve launched a program of events and activities.

The Healthy Travel Charter contains a series of commitments that the Council will make over 3 years to support our staff and visitors to walk and cycle more, take public transport, and switch to electric vehicles.

You can find the full list of what's on offer below:

Cycle repair kits

We've installed three cycle repair kits at the Alps, Civic Offices and Docks Offices. You can request the kits to make emergency repairs to your bikes.

Cycle confidence training and Cycle Champions

We're currently gauging staff interest for cycle confidence training session with Breeze or Pedal Power. These cover basic cycling skills and bike handling to help you improve technique and feel more confident.

We would also like to hear your thoughts on establishing a network of Cycle Champions. Similar to our other Champions, Cycle Champions would be advocates for cycling and its benefits for staff. They could share tips, routes and ideas to encourage more people to cycle. The network would support each other, as well as colleagues, to cycle with confidence.

Please contact activetravel@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk if you would be interested in either initiative.
