Have you considered Shared Lives?
Have you considered Shared Lives?
Shared Lives is a scheme which helps vulnerable adults to receive support within a safe family environment.
The Vale of Glamorgan Shared Lives has been established for over 20 years – supporting individuals with varying needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, mental health issues and dementia.
Approved Shared Lives Carers open their own family homes to the person needing support.
The aim for the person being supported is to live their best life, their way, in their own communities whilst also promoting independence and gaining new skills.
Become a Carer
Do you have a spare bedroom and are you looking for a life-changing opportunity to support someone in your own home?
Why not join Shared Lives and become a Carer?
Shared Lives recruits carers from all walks of life. The service welcomes any age or background, single people, couples and families with or without children.
The Shared Lives also welcomes referrals from all teams within social services that may be able to offer a suitable placement.
Have Your Say
The scheme also recently ran two Have Your Say events which enabled people who are involved in the scheme to share their views on the service and provide feedback.
The events in Barry and Bridgend were both well attended and was a great opportunity to discuss how Shared Lives is working for people the service is currently supporting and ways to improve the service in the future.
