Shwmae Su'mae Day, held annually on October 15th, encourages everyone to give Welsh a go by starting a conversation or greeting everyone with a 'Shwmae' or 'Su'mae'.

Shwmae or Su’mae is an informal greeting, loosely meaning Hi or hi there! It’s a really easy, friendly and informal way to start a conversation or greet someone – in person, virtually, or by email.

To celebrate, the organisers, Mudiadau Dathlu'r Gymraeg, encourage everyone to attend one of the Shwmae Sumae events to have a taste of using Welsh socially in their area.

This year's campaign for Diwrnod Shwmae Sumae is 'Hapus i Siarad'

Menter Bro Morgannwg are supporting this great campaign next week. If you are a business with Welsh speaking staff in the Vale of Glamorgan, then please get in touch with Menter via their website – www.menterbromorgannwg.cymru.
