Microsoft Teams Phones Update

We are happy to inform you that the final Microsoft Teams Phone transfer took place successfully on 09 May, meaning we have now ported across all phone numbers and call queues in the organisation to Microsoft Teams Phone.

As a Microsoft Teams Phone user you should now see a dial pad tab on your Teams application, enabling you to make outgoing calls and listen to your voicemail.

When a call comes in, you'll receive an alert, just like you would for an instant message. Just select the alert to answer the call – it's that easy! To make a call, either:

  • Go to the calls tab, and call a contact or use the dial pad to make a call
  • Start a chat, and then press the phone button to turn it to into a call

We have supported many users during the transfer and have captured your feedback and questions in the form of an FAQ:

Will my call divert still work?

Please note that any number diverts from the old Cisco phone system will no longer work.

There is no need to divert your number to a works mobile – you can now pick up any calls on a mobile via the Teams app.

Can I get call alerts on both my headset and laptop?

Its easy to set up a secondary ringer. Select your Teams profile picture and then 'settings'. Next, select 'Devices' and find 'Secondary Ringer' in the options. Click the dropdown arrow then select 'Speakers' to let the call ring on both your headset and your computer speakers.

How do I set up a call group or call queue?

If you need to be able to pick up calls as part of a group, you can either setup a call group yourself or if you want to add messaging and caller options, raise a Halo Ticket to setup a call queue. Read the full FAQ on staffnet:
