Calling all Vale Council Departmental Managers – QuickStart

CELT+ and Communities for Work Plus are looking to hold their third Quickstart scheme this spring!

Quickstart Spring 2024The initiative will provide up to five paid job placements for 18 -24 tear olds based in the Vale of Glamorgan. The aim is to provide young people with essential employment skills to enhance their future employment prospects.

Could you:

  • Offer a Vale-based 18-24-year-old the opportunity to work within your Council department. (Please note, the job must be a new vacancy and must not replace any existing or planned vacancies; and/or cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose work or reduce their working hours).

  • Employ for six months (initially funded via QuickStart for the first 6 months) before looking to offer more sustainable employment for the QuickStart candidate upon successful completion of their placement (if the employed candidate satisfies the department’s probationary requirements)

 

If YES, then funding would be made available to:

  • Fully fund a 25 hours per week, six-month placement at National Minimum Wage for the 6-month duration

  • Provide up to £500 per candidate for training/resources

  • Offer Pre-employment Employability Skills training to potential candidates via the CELT+ and Community for Work Plus programme in partnership with Adult Community Learning


The QuickStart Scheme has time scales for consideration:

  • Expression of interest opens Monday 25th March and closes on the 12th April 2024

  • Five job vacancies are advertised from Monday 15th April 2024

  • Interested candidates to submit their interest for vacancy consideration to the QuickStart Coordinator (in the first instance) by no later Friday 3rd May 2024

  • Pre-employment workshops (CV / Interview skills) to be offered to potential candidates week commencing Monday 13th May 2024

  • Interviews are to be set by individual departments upon receipt of CVs, week commencing 20th May 2024
