Council to celebrate IWD 2024

The Leader of the Council is once again bringing together women from across the organisation to celebrate International Women’s Day.

On 08 March 2024 Cllr Lis Burnett will host a panel discussion with colleagues as well as a workshop session to identify ways to inspire inclusion within the Council.

The event will take place in the Cosmeston Room at the Civic Offices and you can register an interest in attending now.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

In 2024, the campaign theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ emphasises the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society.

As a Council we are committed to fostering a Vale that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. One where difference is valued and celebrated. In 2023 we hosted our biggest ever event to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The event gave colleagues at all levels of the organisation the chance to share their experiences, network, and inspire each other. This year’s celebration aims to build on this.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided thanks to sponsorship from one of the Council’s suppliers.
