Latest News

During our last Diverse meeting, we discussed ways in which we can help our schools become actively anti-racist by becoming School Community Governors.

Martine Booker-Southard, the Chair of the Diverse Network, recently wrote an article for the Vale School Governor’s Association Spring Newsletter on the importance of diversifying our School Governor Boards.

There are lots of barriers that may deter people from becoming a School Community Governor; age, race, religion, sexuality, disability, gender but "Governing bodies should represent the community they serve. If you can't relate to the community, how can you understand and then do things in the best interests of the students?"

If you would like to discuss the process of becoming a School Governor, you can email us at Diverse@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk for further information.
