We are Celebrating National Inclusion Week 2023
We are Celebrating National Inclusion Week 2023: September 25 – October 1
National Inclusion Week (NIW) kicks off next Monday, September 25. NIW is a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces.
The theme for National Inclusion 2023 is ‘Take Action Make Impact’ – a call to action for all in the organisation, from leaders to teams and individuals.
‘Take Action Make Impact’ is a powerful message which aims to encourage organisations and individuals to think about what actions they can take and what positive impact these actions could and should have for marginalised colleagues.
How Can You Get Involved?
We want you to be engaged in our inclusion work. A great way to do this is by joining and getting involved with one of our staff networks.
There are currently three staff network groups: GLAM, Diverse, and the Disability Network. Throughout NIW, we will be celebrating and highlight the work that these groups carry out to highlight diversity and support inclusivity in the workplace.
GLAM
GLAM is a staff network of LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies that works to have a positive impact for LGBTQ+ colleagues in the workplace. GLAM aim to raise overall awareness and visibility of its work and provides a social and supportive environment for all.

Diverse Network
The Diverse Network is for colleagues and allies who want to support the Council’s mission for race equality. Diverse celebrates diversity and works to create a positive impact for Black, Asian and Global Majority communities in the workplace.

Disability Network
The Disability Network is made up of colleagues with experience of disability, mental ill health, neurodiversity, and allies to help establish a workplace that better caters for their needs to create an environment where everyone is included and supported.
National Inclusion Week Question Time with Employee Networks: Tuesday October 3
To round off NIW, O&D will be hosting a virtual Q&A session via Teams on Tuesday October 3 from 2.30 – 3.30pm.
This is your chance to engage directly with the people behind these networks. Leaders of Diverse, the Disability Network, GLAM, and the Wellbeing Champions will be coming together to showcase their networks, discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and answer any questions you may have about the networks in the organisation.
Tom Bowring, Director of Corporate Resources, will also be joining the panel to answer your questions on workplace inclusivity.
