Celebrating Learners at the Vale Learning Centre
On Monday 25th September a Learner Presentation Event was held in Art Central, Barry Library to celebrate the students of the Vale Learning Centre who have achieved qualifications in the last academic year.
It was fantastic to see so many learners attend to collect their certificates and be warmly applauded for all their amazing efforts.
There were several different categories celebrated including ESOL Trinity Skills for Life from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Dedicated ESOL tutors Pat Roberts and Eliza Baker, led by ESOL Coordinator Sharon Kitching made sure that all learners felt supported and were well prepared throughout the academic year as well as during the exams and this has been reflected in excellent results. 34 learners received passes in Reading; 21 passed Writing and 26 passed Speaking and Listening with an amazing 21 of those achieving 100% in their exams. 11 learners passed all three elements gaining a Full Certificate – a fantastic achievement!
Learners who achieved City and Guilds Essential Skills Wales Communication (English) and Application of Number (maths) qualifications were also presented with their certificates. There were 33 passes ranging from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2, a significant increase from the previous year. Experienced tutors Pippa Jones, Sharon Kitching and Genevieve Davies helped learners throughout their learning journeys to reach their full potential, build confidence and achieve valuable qualifications.
Alongside this there were a huge 85 passes for Agored Cymru units across ESOL, literacy and numeracy. Well done all.
Three inspirational learners who had been nominated by their tutors for the national Inspire! Adult Learner Awards were celebrated, and 15 learners were awarded Vale Learning Centre certificates for excellent attendance across the year.
Accreditation and Assessment Coordinator, Cath Roberts, has worked tirelessly throughout the year to make sure that the Vale Learning Centre retains its excellent exam status, upholding rigorous quality processes and ensuring that assessments and exams ran smoothly, as well as verifying all our Agoreds too.
A big thank you to the Vale Learning Centre’s Nicola Butler for organising the Presentation Event and helping to make it such a successful and enjoyable experience for all. Thanks also to Art Central’s Tracey Harding for providing such a lovely venue as well as to library staff for their invaluable help.
