Council employees invited to celebrate the King’s Coronation

Following her outstanding work during the Coronavirus pandemic and her career in Social Services, Sharon Miller, Social Services Operational Manager for the Vale, has been invited to attend the King’s Coronation this weekend. 

Coronation Invite Sharon MillerThis Saturday, May 6, King Charles will be officially crowned as the British Monarch. Although there will be celebrations held around the UK, the coronation ceremony will be taking place at Westminster Abbey, in London.

Sharon previously received Special Honours from the Queen in 2020 thanks to her outstanding work during the Coronavirus pandemic. She was repurposed from her usual role to lead on procuring and distributing PPE for the Council. This role was particularly challenging from the offset due to limited supplies and guidance relating to the equipment.

Sharon’s wonderful efforts during the pandemic and her ongoing work in Social Services continues to be recognised by the Royal Family as she was sent an official invitation to attend the Coronation Ceremony this weekend.

In response to her invite, Sharon said: “I am honoured to have been invited to attend the coronation of King Charles III. The coronation is an important event that recognises achievements and celebrates contributions to society. 

“As someone who works in social care, I am humbled and grateful for the recognition that this represents and am honoured to have the opportunity to represent such an incredible field and to share this recognition with my colleagues.

“The recognition is a testament to the importance of social care in our society and the positive impact that it has on the lives of the vulnerable individuals and communities we support.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our achievements and I would like to extend my congratulations and thanks to everyone who works in social care for the hard work and dedication that they bring to their roles to improve the lives of others.”

The Royal Family will also be hosting several other official ceremonies in London over the coming days where a few familiar faces from the Council have been invited to attend.

Naomi Meredith, Team Manager in Resources and Planning, has also been invited to the King’s Royal Garden Party on Tuesday, May 9 at Buckingham Palace. Naomi will spend the afternoon in the Palace Gardens and will have the opportunity to speak with members of the Royal Family.
