Could You Help Support Someone to Live their Best Life?

An Introduction to the Adult Placement Service.

Do you know someone, or would you be interested in being a host? You could be part of an exciting exciting period in the development of our adult placement service.

The Adult Placement Service (often called Shared Lives) is calling on people to become hosts (carers) where they open up their homes to individuals with support and accommodation needs.

The APS provide a service to vulnerable adults over the age of 18 who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health or dementia.

They aim to support individuals to develop the practical, social, and emotional skills to make their own choices in life and be as independent as possible, whilst remaining at the heart of their community.

The team is calling out for new hosts so if you, or anyone you know, who has a spare bedroom and is interested in finding more information, please contact the team.

Whatever point you are at in life, whether working or retired, you could help someone by supporting them to live their best life.

The team assesses and trains hosts, matches them with service users, and monitors placements so that both hosts and service users benefit. They help with all types of placements from respite to long-term and emergency placements.

So what are the benefits of being a host?

  • Earn a living – our hosts across the services earn between £424 - £617 per week per person supported (this can be more than 1 person)

  • Be part of an exciting scheme that at the heart of it helps people live their best life

  • Access to ongoing training and development

  • Ongoing support from an allocated Project Worker

If you have any questions or require any more information, you can contact the team by email: adultplacement@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk or ring 01446 731105 and one of our team will get back to you.
