Council Colleagues win at Wales Care Awards
Colleagues from the Resource Management and Safeguarding division celebrated after winning an award for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Wales Care Awards last October.
The Wales Care Awards ceremony was organised by Care Forum Wales and took place at City Hall in Cardiff.
The team were presented with the award for ‘Covid Heroes – Best Local Authority Supporting Care Homes Award’ in recognition of the work carried out to support care home providers during the pandemic.
The winners were voted for by care home providers throughout Wales.
To make the award even more special, the team were informed that this is the first award given to a local authority by Care Forum Wales
The award came as a surprise to the team who were not even aware they had been nominated until arriving at the event!
The team celebrated by holding an event in the Dock Offices last December.
Between March 2020 and October 2022, Social Services staff worked tirelessly to ensure that providers had the financial and practical support required to continue operating during this difficult time.
In all, over £13m of payments were made via the team to providers and care staff through a variety of initiatives such as the WG Hardship Grant, payments to care staff, the Statutory Sick Payment Enhancement scheme and many more.
The PPE Team have so far distributed over 13 million items of PPE and LFD tests to care homes, domiciliary agencies, schools and social care staff.
Care Forum Wales represents 450+ care homes, nursing homes and other independent health and social care providers across Wales.
