Dear colleagues,

Graham ConibearIt is with sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of Graham Conibear.

Graham was well known to many staff as he worked as a Porter in various buildings and always took a keen interest in others.

Graham prided himself on knowing the names of everyone he met, often stopping to chat about his most recent trip overseas or the next one he was planning.

Among many tasks, Graham was responsible for helping set up for weddings at the Civic, always wearing a blazer and tie for the occasion.

A keen Barry Town football supporter, people knew Graham was coming because his loud mobile phone ringtones would echo around halls and corridors as he passed.

In total, he spent more than 30 years working for the Council,

The affection colleagues held for him was obvious when a collection for his birthday generated a significant sum, which he used to buy a watch, and a huge crowd gathered in the Council Chamber for the presentation.

I’m sure you’ll join me in passing on heartfelt condolences to Graham’s family.

Graham’s funeral will take place at 12pm at Barry crematorium on the 22nd of August.

Please note Graham’s family have arranged for the Funeral procession to drive past the front of the Civic offices at approximately 11:40 am on 22 August on route to Barry Crematorium.

If you wish to pay your respects to Graham on his final journey, please line the route on Holton Road outside of the Civic Offices from 11:30am.

The family invite all to celebrate Graham’s life at Bryn Hill Golf club after the service.

Kind regards,

Rob
