Care Home visit by Loveworld Church Cardiff

Southway residential home receive visit by members of the Volunteer Medical Corps Loveworld Church Cardiff.  

Located in Cowbridge, Southway residential home is home to people living with dementia.

Care assistant Olumide Ajala who works at the home, is a member of the VMC/choir. Olumide arranged the occasion and brought his 2-year-old son Fhalom along to experience the activities and mingling with residents.

Loveworld church article smallEveryone enjoyed the company provided by the VMC choir and took part in several activities which included Fhalom enjoying an ice cream with resident Donald Harries.

The Volunteer Medical Corps / choir belongs to Loveworld Cardiff who have a global network of Christian health care workers, non-medical volunteers and students committed to providing medical care through outreaches around the world.

Cllr Eddie Williams said: “This is a wonderful impromptu moment for the residents and is particularly important for those that live with dementia.

“Southway enables people with lived experience of dementia to thrive and flourish by providing genuine opportunities to be meaningfully involved in important experiences like this one.

“We would like to thank members of the Volunteer Medical Corps Loveworld Church for entertaining the residents and making their day a special one.”

Southway is purpose built double story residential home, located in the centre of Cowbridge, in the rural western part of the Vale of Glamorgan, between Cardiff and Bridgend.

It is within a short walking distance of the local town centre, which has a physic garden, quaint shops, pubs and restaurants.
