Developing a Green Infrastructure Plan
Developing a Green Infrastructure Plan
'Green Infrastructure is the network of natural and semi-natural features, greenspaces, rivers and lakes that intersperse and connect villages, towns and cities.’ – Landscape Institute
We are in the process of preparing a Green Infrastructure (GI) plan, to maximise the benefits of our green open space for reducing our carbon emissions and improving well-being for our residents and visitors.
To begin this journey, we have mapped our green spaces. In order to develop a strategy to improve and manage our green infrastructure, we need to assess what we have available and how we currently use this space.

We will be undertaking an engagement project whilst developing the strategy. This will help us identify community spaces and potentially innovative ways to use these spaces in future.
One example of this is to develop disused land to into a community garden project. This has been done in Gibbonsdown and we have been approached by other community groups to take this idea forward in their local area.
Our planning department will work alongside neighbourhood services to take the next steps in developing a GI plan.
