Covid-19 Public Inquiry Preservation of Data Policy
Covid-19 Public Inquiry – Preservation of Data Policy
The Covid-19 Inquiry has been set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is important that the Council works alongside other local authorities to provide support and transparency throughout the inquiry.
The Preservation of Data Policy will ensure that relevant documents and records are available and easily accessible so that the Council is able to respond quickly to information requests.
With immediate effect, all colleagues are directed to suspend any document deletion and destruction processes in relation to information regarding the Covid-19 pandemic for the duration of the inquiry until further notice.
Please note that a ‘Document’ includes any tangible or intangible file or record in which information is recorded. This could be anything from paper forms to audio recordings. You can find further detail in the Policy.
In accordance with the Preservation of Data Policy, the Chief Executive and Leader of the council have issued a take notice statement, with details of what is expected of colleagues.
To ensure that all staff consider the Policy, later in the week it will be circulated through Metacompliance. When logging in to your corporate device you will be prompted to read the Policy and confirm that you have considered the information.
