The latest on the Staff Awards

There is still time to submit your nominations! 

As the Staff Awards draw nearer, we’re pleased to announce the latest updates on the event. 

Dozens of nominations have been submitted across the categories but there is still time for you to submit yours. 

Don’t forget there are a number of new categories this year. We have introduced some new categories to the awards that recognise projects at the forefront of the Council’s agenda.  

The Project Zero award is open to staff across the organisation- this could be an individual or a team who has contributed to our goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2030. We’re looking for projects or approaches that have helped reduce emissions, encourage biodiversity or influence change. 

The Celebrating Diversity and Engagement can be for teams or individuals who have improved our communities - this could be by supporting vulnerable people or tackling issues like food poverty, mental health and wellbeing or covid recovery. 

Nominating a colleague is a great way to get them the recognition they deserve. We spoke to one of our previous winners, Jo Lewis, about her experience. Jo won Employee of the Year in the 2018 awards. She said; 

“I was nominated by my colleagues and team, which was a very special and humbling experience. I have always said that I wouldn’t be able to do my job without them and to be surrounded by them when my name was called made it all the more special. 

“I was also honoured to be involved with setting up the awards. There’s a lot of hard work that goes on across departments to make this happen. It’s always a challenge, but completely worthwhile to see it all come together. 

“I will say - put your nomination in, attend the event, and, if the past two years have shown us anything - go and enjoy!”

The ceremony itself will also be a great opportunity to get together with your team and catch-up with those you may not have seen for some time.  

Details are still being finalised but we are very pleased to be able to share that more tickets that ever – 250! – will be available this year and thanks to our sponsors at an even lower price of just £10. Staff will also have priority access to a number of discounted rooms at the Vale Resort. Further details of how to book will be released soon.
