After many years of service, we say farewell to June Bradshaw

Colleagues at a Vale of Glamorgan residential home will be saying a special goodbye this week as long-serving member of the housekeeping team hangs up her uniform.

June Bradshaw will be retiring from her current role at Ty Dewi Sant on 17 July at the age of 73.

June has worked many different roles in the Vale since starting as a domestic assistant in 1984, including working in schools, the youth service and a fire station, but since 2001 she has worked in Ty Dewi Sant, first as a domestic assistant before moving into her current position in 2013.

Colleagues describe June as ‘one of life’s characters’ who treats everyone the same, regardless of their position or background. She will challenge if she feels a job can be done better and few would reach the high standard of work that she achieves.

Lance Carver, Director of Social Services said: “June is fantastic and I am lucky enough to say I have known her for over 20 years. June is always so welcoming and friendly.

“Everyone has expressed they would like her to stay indefinitely and that her leaving is a very sad event but as she says: “We all have to go some time and my time is now”.

Marijke Jenkins, Operations Manager said: “June is loved by all and does an excellent job. We will be hard pressed to find someone as committed to take her place.

“The team want to tell June they will miss her but wish her the very best of retirement years as few will deserve it more.”

Happy retirement June!
