40 Years and Counting with Elaine Edgerton
40 Years and Counting with Elaine Edgerton
A colleague from the Planning Team is celebrating 40 years of continuous service working for the Vale Council.
Elaine Edgerton began her career at the Council in 1982, at the age of 23. Originally hired to work for six months in the Planning typing pool covering a maternity absence, Elaine never left and has been an integral part of the team ever since.
Originally from Warwick, Elaine moved to Barry in 1981 to be with her now husband, Steve.
Described by colleagues as hard-working and conscientious, Elaine regularly goes above and beyond her duty, even coming in late on days off to make sure the post is done for the planners.
Some of the less glamorous tasks Elaine has undertaken over the years include manually numbering the pages on committee reports and hand-typing countless letters for planning officers.
Outside of work, Elaine has always been passionate about cars, and colleagues reminisce over being ferried around on nights out in her Ford Escort.
Fiona Lambert, Business Support Manager said: “Where do I begin and what would I do without Elaine!”
“Elaine is more than a reliable pair of hands; She is conscientious in all that she does, and nothing is ever too much no matter what the task.
“She is a genuinely lovely person and has been an absolute pleasure to work with! Congratulations on 40 years and counting. Please don’t retire yet!”
Congratulations Elaine!
