The Vales Telecare team nominated for the MediWales Awards 2022
The Vale’s Telecare team nominated for the MediWales Awards 2022
The Telecare team are nominated for the Social Care Innovation Through Collaboration Award for their collaborative project with TEC Cymru in digitalising the Vale’s Telecare system.
The Award aims to recognise organisations that have collaborated to innovate on a social care project that has resulted in major impact and benefit for citizens.
The telecommunications industry announced the shut-off of the analogue telephony network in the UK by December 2025. With over 99% of current telecare users in Wales using their landlines to generate ‘life critical’ alarms, a coordinated effort across all Welsh telecare services to be ‘digitally’ enabled is underway.
In December 2021, the Vale of Glamorgan Council and TEC Cymru entered a collaboration agreement, ensuring a coordinated approach to migrate the Vale’s Alarm Receiving Centre’s (ARCs) to digital.
With support from the National Telecare Programme provided by TEC Cymru, the Vale is now the first council in Wales to migrate their ARC to digital and will now be the beacon for services to follow,
The Telecare service is instrumental in supporting vulnerable residents in their homes 24/7 while providing peace of mind to their families and friends. The new digital telecare infrastructure allows users have a wider variety of choice in telecare equipment and ensures a swifter, more robust response to citizens in crisis,
The fantastic work of our Telecare team and the support that they provide for our residents is highlighted in this year’s Staffnet Season’s Greetings video series.
